If you project is in our service area and you are serious about moving forward with your project there is generally no fee for the initial site visit and consultation, up to 1 hour including travel and consultation.
Hourly rates are set according qualifications and skill / efficiency of work. We have a range of staff starting from junior / interns who are charged out at as little as $45/hr+Gst ranging to senior architectural designers and Licenced Building Practitioners who charge out starting at $110/hr+Gst. We are experienced at assigning the appropriate staff to the appropriate tasks to provide a high quality and economical service.
The industry standard is said to be about 6% for an experience architectural designer, however we are able to do better than this for most projects depending on size and complexity. We have an extensive CAD library, resources and extensions which allow us to efficiently provide exactly what is needed, no more and no less.
No our fee does not include any third party fees such as those for engineers, council fees, surveyors, truss designers, planning consultants, arbourists, fire engineers and so forth. Our fee proposals are not technically fixed or lump sum. Quite often we end up billing less than what is proposed since we estimate our fees conservatively.
We usually have a lead time for any substantial new projects of around a week and half, however we do maintain some "spinning capacity" for minor variations, amendments, Requests for Information, and urgent requests. Once we start your job, time to completion will depend on the required man-hours with some inputs from third parties such as structural engineers and truss designers. On average a typical residential project can be output in about 4-6 weeks if there are no contingencies in the timeline such as resource consent, extended design approval, complicated consultant reports or the like.
